A Spiritualist New Age

March 3 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Free – £5

A Spiritualist New Age

This illustrated talk will address the largely overlooked contribution of Spiritualists and Spiritualism to the New Age Movement. From the early interest shown in mediumship by H. P. Blavatsky of the Theosophical Society, to debates between Theosophists and Spiritualists in the 1920s about what would soon become core beliefs of the New Age worldview, to the interest shown in mediumship by the Findhorn community in the 1960s, influence and impact was extensive and significant. I will look at selected episodes in the history of the interaction between Spiritualism and the New Age to argue that, while Theosophical influences on the New Age have been widely noted, the Spiritualist contribution is often unacknowledged
