Centre Happenings and Insights
For some time I have been thinking about reincarnation. We are often curious about our past lives, who we were, what karma we have collected, who we have met before. But what about future lives? If we are not stepping off the karmic wheel, what sort of life will we lead next?
My own plan is to reincarnate as consciousness. In particular, consciousness of a specific building or a place. I would be the awareness of what was going on in that specific area since the beginning of time – pure energy, not tied to physical form. The witness of all the events, a stage for all the stories of reincarnating souls.
As a building, my foundations and walls would be full of memories. The warmth of the hands of the builders kept in each of the bricks. The footsteps of each of the visitors reverberating on the floor beneath. Maybe I would be a school or a theatre or a library. A collection of people, energies and objects, evolving over time.
I would like to have special power to affect the events in a gentle and subtle way. I would act as a magnet for those who are meant to reunite in their lifetime, like an invisible hand, guiding the visitors along their destined paths. The original place that is mentioned in stories of ‘do you remember where we met for the first time?’.
The building where the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Centre is located certainly has its own consciousness, its own spirit of the place. Built in 1881 by William McEwan, this beautiful Victorian town house has surely seen many stories. Sitting at the reception desk and writing this Newsletter I am just one thread in the rich tapestry of 25 Palmerston Place.
We have just entered the Virgo season on 23rd August. Virgo, a mutable earth sign, invites us to reorganise our life and introduce more order and approach our matters in a practical and efficient way.
The Full Moon in Pisces on 10th September will highlight the theme of service. While the Moon in Pisces is concerned with spiritual service and the dissolution of self, the Sun in Virgo focuses on practical service and specific categories. It can be a highly emotional time when we are confronted with the subconscious desire to sacrifice ourselves in the name of something greater. The key is whether we are doing so unconditionally or sabotaging ourselves by giving away our power.
Mercury is just about to go retrograde and is in opposition to retrograde Jupiter. When a planet goes retrograde it appears to move backwards when seen from our position on the Earth. The energy of a retrograde planet is turned inward and signals a time of reflection.
Tension can arise when it comes to communication, transport and technology. Jupiter expands the communicative nature of Mercury but due to the retrograde motion it can feel as if the words are coming out backwards. Focus on issues that need to be revisited and reworked rather than new projects.
This energy is further emphasised by all the outer planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) which are also in retrograde. As a collective, we are absorbing and digesting all the lessons taught since the beginning of the year. We have until the end of October to stop and reflect on recent events.
