The Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Centre
Whilst Arthur Conan Doyle is arguably most well known for bringing the legendary Sherlock Holmes to life through his novels, it is less well known that he was a devout spiritualist. Eleanor Docherty, resident detective at the Arthur Conan Doyle Centre, will reveal the curious history of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and his links to the world of spiritualism – with a tour of the Centre afterwards.
Wander around the centre with us as we take you through the history of the building and reveal the stories of the people that both lived here and passed through our doors.
Please note: There are limited spaces for the guided tour. If you would like to attend, please RSVP on the link above, or give us a call on 0131 625 0700.
24 doors of advent
On the 20th day of Advent, we open our doors to you.
11.30am – One-hour talk: “Arthur Conan Doyle – The Spiritualist”
12.45pm – Guided tour of the building (approximately one hour)
Throughout the day, people will be able to explore the building for themselves and visit our Sherlock Holmes Tearoom. Staff will be on hand to provide further information. We also have a visitor guide book, which visitors can buy for £3.
The tour also traverses over different floors within the centre using our beautiful, but large staircase. As this is such an old building, we do not have a lift so accessibility may be an issue.
There are a limited number of places for the guided tour. If you would like to attend the tour but do not see any more available tickets, give us a call on 0131 625 0700.
