Listen to a licensed master play Japan’s oldest bamboo flute.

Markus Guhe invites you on a mystical, musical journey. We begin with the mythical origins of the shakuhachi. Its ancient sound carries us through its long and fascinating history.

Markus’s solo repertoire features traditional music created during the Edo era by mendicant Zen monks. Zen monks who were mysterious, masterless samurai, Government spies and the only ones granted the privilege of playing the shakuhachi.

Your intrigue is surely piqued. But, there’s more. Happy folk tunes, taiko drumming and live electronics.
