DESCRIPTION:In its simplest form\, a Death Cafe is a gathering of people who meet in a comfortable space to discuss mortality. The concept of a Death Cafe (DC) was created by Jon Underwood in London in\n2011\, inspired by the work of Swiss sociologist Bernard Crettaz\, who had organised similar events called “Cafés Mortels.” \nThe idea is to create a safe\, informal\, and non-judgmental space where participants can explore their thoughts\, fears and questions about death in a supportive environment. \nThere is no agenda\, objectives or themes\, and DC does not offer grief support or counselling. Instead\, open conversations that can help to foster a deeper understanding of the impermanence of life are encouraged. \nLoretta is passionate about bringing death out of the shadows as a means of helping us to live our best life in the present. She uses her extensive knowledge to pave the way for a positive experience as we dive into this fascinating subject and learn to look at death without fear. \nLoretta Dunn is a Life Celebrant\, certified spiritual advisor\, psychic medium and healer. She was a nurse and midwife during a career spanning 36 years\, where she supported countless women on their birthing journey. She uses aspects of Chinese philosophy\, poetry and art to understand the physical form of the Tai Chi. \nHarriet Devlin is the daughter of Gerda Geddes- the pioneer European woman who learnt the Tai Chi in China in the late 1940’s and who studied Chinese philosophy\, poetry and art to discover the inner meanings of the form. The Tai Chi Chu’uan is a ancient Chinese exercise form that involves the body\, mind and spirit. \nOn one level the form marks the stages of the human journey through life\, on another it exercises the body and calms the mind \, and it can also be used as a martial art. She uses aspects of Chinese philosophy\, poetry and art to understand the physical form of the Tai Chi. \nHarriet Devlin is the daughter of Gerda Geddes- the pioneer European woman who learnt the Tai Chi in China in the late 1940’s and who studied Chinese philosophy\, poetry and art to discover the inner meanings of the form. The Tai Chi Chu’uan is a ancient Chinese exercise form that involves the body\, mind and spirit. \nOn one level the form marks the stages of the human journey through life\, on another it exercises the body and calms the mind \, and it can also be used as a martial art. We are a social learning club that come together with the common interest of wanting to improve our public speaking skills. A typical club night includes speeches and evaluations\, a fun topics session and an interval for a relaxing chat! \nBy being part of the club you can learn public speaking and communication skills\, chairmanship and meeting procedure and evaluation techniques all in a friendly and supportive environment. We offer a unique experience in that when anyone stands up to speak in the club\, the entire audience wants them to succeed. \nWe have members who are in their 20’s and members who are retired. Some are experts in the field of public speaking but most of us are just learning! Regardless of age\, background or ability\, we all want to learn how to be better at speaking in front of people.
