The Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Centre

Unique to the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Centre this year is ‘Luminescence’, an inspirational exhibition of ‘Para-realistic’ paintings by artist Katie Hall from the 5th of October to the 12th December.

For many years Katie and her partner, John, encountered and photographed extraordinary phenomena around their historic home. Their amazing story is related in ‘Beyond Photography’, the first book in the world to photographically document an unfolding dimension of consistent paranormal phenomenon.

This developed into more exotic light-forms and apparitions. It was an incredible inspirational experience. In the midst of all this for Katie, came the message – ‘believe, meditate and pray’; and for both of them the realization of Oneness: the interconnection of all life in the diversity of creation.

When recently asked about her paintings, Katie commented,

“As wonderful as the photographs we were privileged to capture are, these were moments frozen in time. I felt I needed to revisit those experiences, and the only way I knew how to do that was through painting. I am still totally entranced by the images and our encounters. For me painting was a means of meditating on the wealth of information in the photographs and the accompanying synchronicities. Painting was a way to engage with the spiritual aspect of our experiences”.

When thinking about this exhibition Katie felt that none of the current art terms sounded quite right for her paintings – and so John came up with, “Para-realism” as a descriptive term for the work she has produced.

It is Katie’s hope that this exhibition will convey some of the wonder, mystery and enchantment she has encountered, and be an inspiration for all those reaching out for spiritual truth and connections beyond the materialistic world view.

Katie and John are members of the Unitarian Society for Psychical Studies. They do not do social media but their books, ‘Beyond Photography’’ and ‘Orbs and Beyond’ are available from O Books or on Amazon.
