In this talk Dr Michelle Foot will discuss spirit art of the nineteenth-century and its role in the international Spiritualist movement. She will consider both the subjects of the paintings and what this meant for mediums painting in the context of Victorian Britain.
Michelle is an art historian and a Teaching Fellow of Nineteenth-Century Art at the University of Edinburgh. Her research explores the cultural impact of Spiritualism on art of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Michelle is a Trustee of the Arthur Conan Doyle Centre.
