The descent of spirit into matter and its subsequent return to source is described by both esoteric teachings and the major religions of our world. The ‘homeward journey’ to the source of our being is commonly referred to as the spiritual path. If we are to successfully undertake this evolutionary journey, we must be aware of the illusory nature of the materials world into which our Soul incarnates many times for the purpose of unfolding its symbolic lotus petals. The Greek philosopher Plato symbolized this great challenge in his famous cave allegory.
The presentation considers the challenges and the rewards of the spiritual path. We must free ourselves from the symbolic shackles described by Plato so that we may realize the intent of the Soul or higher Self. Towards these ends, Gary utilizes the timeless, eternal truths found in the wisdom teachings, complemented by the related psychological approach of Carl Jung, the symbolism of myth and eastern religious teachings.
