Peter Russell explores the mystery of consciousness both from a scientific perspective, and from that of the mystics and spiritual adepts who have delve deeper into the nature of their own experience. These inner explorers repeatedly affirm that the qualities we most long for—peace, love, freedom, fulfilment—lie at the core of our being, not in the material world that Western culture has been so focused on.Â

A review of standard sceptical objections to the empirical claims made by parapsychologists.

15th February 2022. ‘What Are the Implications of Meditation Reducing Violence?’ by Barry Spivack. 7.30pm. £6.
Peer reviewed research provides evidence that meditation can reduce violence. What does this tell us about the nature of consciousness and individual and social transformation?

22nd February 2022. ‘Life – Death – Rebirth and The Immortality of the Soul’ by Mariel Forde Clarke. 7.30pm. £6.
Life can be a bitch, then you die – what happens then? Based on medical, scientific, and spiritual evidence including the lecturer’s own near-death-experience this talk will stir the curiosity of even the biggest sceptic.

1st March 2022. ‘The EREAMS-study: An empirical study on afterlife contacts’ by Professor Oliver Lazar. 7.30pm. £6.
In this talk Professor Oliver Lazar is joined by spiritual author Bettina Suvi Rode to discuss their historic 2019 EREAMS (Empirical Research of the Effectiveness and Authenticity of Messages from Spirit) study.

8th March 2022. ‘From Quantum Mechanics to Quantum Mythology- and Back Again’ by Hans Busstra. 7.30pm. £6.
Hundreds of years after quantum mechanics encountered consciousness, the link between quantum mechanics and consciousness still remains a ‘skeleton in the closet’ of modern physics. This talk will seek to explore this debate and to understand why it is so polarising.Â

World famous philosopher, author and psychiatrist Iain McGilchrist, joins Professor Lance Butler for a discussion about his new two volume book The Matter with Things.
