From In-Laws to Outlaws: Ceilidh and Interactive Storytelling with Ryan McGregor and Emilie Barr

21 June.6:30 pm-8:30 pm

21st June | 6:30pm-8:30pm| £10 | In-Centre

Ceilidh and interactive storytelling is a programme for Friday evenings which sees participation in listening to a story and songs and heightening well-being by singing along to songs based on stories from Scottish folk lore and history and telling their own stories.

As a storytelling and song duo, Ryan and Emilie see storytelling as a way in which participants take a little time from ordinary life to be transported to other realms but also to examine life’s larger themes through the medium of spoken word and practice listening and telling in a traditional Scots Ceilidh space as well as enjoying the uplifting experience of singing together.

Ryan and Emilie hope that we can open up tales of Scotland’s ancient folk lore and clan way of life which usually was one of harmony with nature and environment and promote that sense of community around which clan life was focused.”

Meet the Hosts

Ryan McGregor & Emilie Barr

We are Ryan McGregor and Emilie Barr, a singer song writing and story telling duo. Both of us are deeply engaged in the research of Scottish history and folk lore, particularly the ancient Clan way of life which believe still holds much of value that the collective can draw upon today.
As a young man Ryan won Edinburgh’s battle of the bands in 2008 and has supported The Blue Tones and performed his own songs and popular covers in venues all over Edinburgh and the Lothian’s.
Emilie is a history tour guide with popular company City of Edinburgh Tours and is near to completing a story telling apprenticeship with the Scottish Story Telling Centre”
