ABOUT
Exploring the Historical Importance, Anthropology and Parapsychological Effects of ‘Cursed’ & ‘Enchanted’ Objects.
In parapsychology we tend to discuss the psychological, biological and social effects of paranormal belief — but what is the nature and origins of paranormal objects from which these beliefs spring forth? Throughout Scottish history there have been many legends and tales with a distinct object at the heart of these stories. These paranormal and occult objects have either been lost to time, stolen, hidden away or are conjectured to have never existed at all. Some were gifted in recognition of bravery, some caused devastation to all who held them, and some altered the very course of Scotland’s political fate.
Paranormal objects tend to fall into two contrasting categories: cursed or enchanted. They either create positive or negative outcomes — prosperity or annihilation.
In this lecture we’ll discuss three cursed objects and three enchanted objects. Including their origin stories, their effects and where they are now.
Viewed through a lens of historical importance, paranormal anthropology, and parapsychological effects.
