Explore Eastern and Western Meditation Styles to Discover Which Form Resonates with You
Introductory sessions of Saturday Morning Meditation with Malcolm Clark will begin on the 27th of November and run for four weeks. Each stand-alone class offers the chance to try both Eastern and Western style meditation. Book a session and explore the key differences between each form’s aims and practical applications.
This is an opportunity to learn about two quite-different forms of meditation. It is likely that you will naturally resonate with one form over the other. Understanding what works best for you will be a revelation if you struggle with meditation currently.
Perhaps you are looking for purpose and meaning in your meditation beyond initial feelings of post-session calm. Both forms of meditation offered in these sessions ultimately aim to help you discover meaning in your mind and to balance your mind’s content in the most efficient way. From that state, it is possible to move into Contemplation (a stage beyond meditation), which at its top level is formless and silent.
Whatever your level of experience and ability you are welcome to join. Malcolm Clark has been teaching Meditation since 1984. He is highly experienced, an accomplished yogi and meditator and will ensure you get the most from your session.
Each class requires a £10 deposit. You may use your deposit as payment towards the 6-week blocks that will start in January.
What to Expect
Each class begins with some very gentle yoga stretching exercises which are specifically designed to prepare the body for meditation. This will be followed by practical experience of either Eastern or Western Meditation techniques.
Yoga – 50 minutes tuition and participation
The initial (physical) Yoga for Meditation, or stretching, aims to assist those parts of the body that often hold tension. Self-conscious physical relaxation helps to prepare the mind for focused and peaceful meditation practice.

Both Eastern and Western forms of Meditation ultimately aspire to a bring about a greater consciousness of the spiritual nature of our being. With this the trappings and sufferings that are characteristic of our material lives begin to diminish.
In the Eastern and Western traditions people experience their existence in different ways. We mostly have an innate bias towards either Eastern or Western approaches to the metaphysical. When it comes to Meditation it’s good to learn to get to know this bias in order to work with it towards an integrated, spiritual ‘self’.
What to bring:
A yoga mat and a blanket to cover your whole body.
What to wear:
Loose-fitting clothing suited to stretching and toning muscles and joints.
The classes are suited to all ages and abilities. You will be offered approaches which suit your body and its capacities.
About Malcolm Clark
Malcolm lives in Edinburgh Scotland and works across United Kingdom. He’s been teaching Meditation and the associated Practices, Arts and Study disciplines, almost full time, since 1984.
Among many arts and interests, Malcolm is a long time practitioner of Classical Yoga and the many Meditation methods therein. He also has a strong grasp of the Western practice traditions.
As the founder and director of Melbourne Yoga & Meditation Centre in Australia since 2001, he has in addition travelled, lived, studied and taught in both North & South America, U.K. & Europe, India and East Asia. Apart from teaching over 20,000 professional studio class hours of Yoga, Meditation and the philosophies which back them, he also shares deeper metaphysical insights about Reflexive Self-consciousness from which he has developed countless meditation methods and practical disciplines.
It is certain that without a Study and understanding of the background ideas, the deeper motives and disciplines behind the world’s practical Yoga & Meditation traditions, the practitioner will only develop a shallow and ephemeral experience, attain limited value, and benefit only over a short or transient period of time. A competent and lasting individual practice is founded on a genuine clear understanding of true ideas and disciplines.
