Dion Fortune (1890-1946) is best known as a writer on ritual magic, mysticism and the Qabalah. She founded an esoteric school and community called The Society of the Inner Light. Trance mediumship was the inspiration behind several of her literary works and teaching, most notably The Cosmic Doctrine which was produced between 1923-1924. Dr Steven Critchley is a working medium and the Director of Studies of the Servants of the Light School, founded by one of Dion Fortune’s personal students, W.E. Butler who was a psychic, spiritual medium, ritual magician and esoteric author of high repute. In this talk Steven will discuss aspects of the trance mediumship of Dion Fortune her teachings on magic and her methods of teaching the Mystical Qabalah.

About Dr Steven Critchley
Director of Studies of the Servants of the Light School
Dr Steven Critchley is the Director of Studies of the Servants of the Light school. For over 25 years, Steven has been involved, practically, with several aspects of the western esoteric tradition, especially working within Wicca, Esoteric Christianity and with the Mystical Qabalah. In 2007 he completed his PhD thesis on Thomas Taylor the Platonist at the University of York and he has a keen ongoing interest in Neoplatonism, classical theurgy and related magical traditions. Steven also demonstrates regularly on the platform in Spiritualist Church services working as a psychic and spiritual medium.
