The Vortex: Halloween Walking Tour – SOLD OUT

and Hazel Martin

This Halloween, learn about the unnerving story behind the creation of the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Centre. A hub for spirituality in the heart of Edinburgh, the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Centre is one of the most paranormally active sites in the city. This walking tour, led by the Centre’s founder Ann Treherne, follows on from the success of her packed out book launch. The Vortex is Ann’s second book and tells the story of how she and her husband transformed a derelict building in Edinburgh’s West End into the grand space it is today and all of the strange phenomena they encountered along the way.

Ann will be joined by writer and editor Liam Rudden as well as psychic mediums Ewan Irvine and Hazel Martin as she guides you through 25 Palmerston Place to key locations of bizarre encounters. Having serialised Ann’s first book, Arthur and Me, for Edinburgh Evening News and being the host of the book launch for The Vortex, Liam is a brilliant addition to this unique walking tour. Immerse yourself in the history of the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Centre as told by the very person who founded it while walking through the space where many have felt the presence of something beyond this realm.

Full of testimonies from tenants and visitors to the centre, The Vortex offers a terrifying insight into who (or what) really inhabits the Centre…

The Vortex

Ann handed over the Chairmanship of The Centre on the 1st of January 2021 to Professor Lance Butler and since then she has been working on this new book – a follow-up to her original book, Arthur and Me.

Whilst Arthur and Me tells the story of how she found the building that would become the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Centre, and how none other than the great man himself led her to it, The Vortex tells of all the strange phenomena encountered in that building over a 10 year period and gives testimony from many others who have also witnessed these strange happenings.

The book includes statements from Tony Stockwell, June Field and Paul Jacob, all international Mediums, among others, as well as an impressive foreword by Prof. Gary Schwartz of the University of Arizona and an introduction by Dr Adam Reed of St Andrews University.
